How AskSami works

What it reads

• Your GitHub repository, through a GitHub App you install, with read only access to contents and metadata. It reads every file of your product's own code, leaving out dependencies, build output, tests, media and generated files, and it never reads a file that holds credentials by its nature. It keeps facts, each with the path of the file it came from and the short quote that shows it. It does not keep a copy of your code. In the chat, Sami can open any file of the repository up to 1 MB, as it stands on GitHub, read only, except a file that holds credentials. A file opened that way stays in that chat.
• Up to 40 pages of your live site: the front page first, then the pages whose address says what they are (pricing, sign up, features, about, docs, the FAQ), then the rest. It reads robots.txt first and obeys it. AskSami's site reader says exactly what it fetches.
• What you hand over: screenshots, exports from ad platforms and payment tools, and links. Up to 20 files with one message, 4 MB each. Each becomes a dated record before Sami answers.

What it writes

• The honest read. Competitors found by live web searches, each with what it charges and a link to its own page. The six things that decide whether a stranger pays, each scored yes, partly or no. A thing that barely decides a sale for your kind of business is marked does not apply, and one that nothing on record shows is marked unknown. Whether the product is a painkiller, a vitamin or neither. Its edge, or the plain statement that it has none. And the first thing wrong, or that nothing wrong was found yet.
• The plan. Free methods before paid ones, one family of channels at a time, ten steps at most. A paid step gets one week if your product is bought on the page, and at least a week where buying takes a trial or a call. A step you mark as not doing stays on the list in your own words until the plan is rewritten, and old plans stay in the memory.
• A morning brief, written at 9am in your own time zone every day, or every Monday for a product bought after a call or by invoice, for as long as you have allowance or credit, with an email you can switch off.

Then you talk it through with Sami in the chat. Sami answers from those records, and says so when it has no data, rather than guessing.

Before Sami advises on search, AI answers or store listings, it checks the live web, and it can open your own pages, your robots.txt, your sitemap.xml and your llms.txt. When a step happens in a dashboard such as Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools, it gives numbered steps and says what to bring back.

What it keeps

The memory is a set of database tables, one row per fact, number, channel, decision or step. Nothing in them is edited or deleted while the account exists: a correction is added beside the old record, and you can see every row. A decision is recorded only from what you agreed to. Deleting the account removes all of it.

Your numbers

Signups, clicks and drop offs come from a small snippet that your own coding tool adds to your product, from a prompt Sami writes. Payments come from your own Stripe, Paddle or Lemon Squeezy webhook. Each is tied to its source where the snippet recorded one, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Reddit or Google. A payment with no recorded source is kept as unknown, never guessed.

How you start, and when you pay

1. You describe what you built, in your own words.
2. Sami replies, and asks what makes it different.
3. You give it your live site's address and your GitHub repository.
4. You pick a plan and check out, on Stripe's own page.
5. AskSami reads your code, up to 40 pages of your site and what you gave it, then writes the honest read and the plan.

The first three steps cost nothing. AskSami reads your code, your site and your files only once you have checked out on a plan. There is no free plan. The plans are Starter $20, Growth $100 and Max $240 per month, each with a monthly allowance that resets on your billing date. Credits cost from $10, never expire, and are spent only once the month's allowance is used up.

What it never does

AskSami never posts anywhere for you, never spends your money and never writes to your code. When the fix is code, Sami writes the instructions for your own coding tool to run.

What it is not

• A chatbot for general marketing questions.
• An analytics dashboard.
• A code review. It reads your code to judge the business, not the engineering.
• A tool for agencies or marketing teams. It is for the builder who does the marketing alone.

Where its rules come from

The rules Sami applies come from one founder's own record: about £4,000 spent on marketing and printing for Ancestorii, which has never had a paying customer, and then Prep66, where strangers paid and the whole marketing spend up to 18 September 2026 was about £25. Getting customers sets those rules out, question by question.
